Menswear inspired looks and severe cuts, are now officially trends for the Fall of 2012. If we are to rock flirty, colorful and feminine looks during Spring, for Fall and Winter we are conveniently switching directions, towards a more powerful and alluring sense of style, in fewer words, we are suiting up !
Donna Karan’s Fall 2012 collection speaks big in terms of lady killer looks, as it reanimates the magic of the glamorous 1950s, with models walking the runway resembling the iconic Marlene Dietrich.
What I loved most: The sense of power and seductiveness emanating from the collection; the structural shapes and cuts; the perfect looking blazers and straight pants; the simplicity meets luxury undertones; the masculine accents.
The obvious trends the collection centers around, are the masculine lines, the sculptural detailing and the strict silhouettes.
My favorite looks of the collection were the white shirt with a V-neck, paired with a dramatic floor-length skirt in black (second look above) and the beautiful red mid-length long-sleeved cocktail dress, with a fitted sillouethe and a sexy slit (seen below), plus, I kind of loved the red blazer with pointed shoulders from above too:
Complementing the sharp tailoring, the color palette of the collection, mixed black and white, with dark greys, scarlet red and olive.
Miniature hats, together with normal sized ones, were the key accessories of the fashion show, but also spotted on the runway – ankle boots and ankle strap heels, black leather gloves, a few oversized bags, bright pink make-up, and chic updos also helped style the wonderful collection.
