I’m talking about one of my newest fashion crushes here, as I somehow managed to neglect this category over the past two months. I know that this statement piece gained her first fans quite a few years back, but for me – the subtle jewelry loving type – the transition was a little bit slower.
I started by liking this trend as worn by celebrities on the Red Carpet, when suddenly the statement necklace became a key piece for any respectable fashionista, as the street fashion took a new spin. And as it is easier to admire trends on others, rather than actually giving them a try, another while past between me acknowledging the trend, and me actually feeling comfortable wearing it.
Below you can find a short selection of beautiful necklaces that I would love to wear during Spring or Summer this year, and also my favorite ways of centering an outfit around the jewelry piece.
1. Piperlime – Beaded Statement Necklace in Aqua Green – $24
2. stella & dot – Birds Of Paradise Necklace – $ 133.50 (on sale)
3. Threadsence – Tahitian Goddess Necklace – $22
4. ASOS – Silk Cord and Looped Statement Collar – $32.23
5. stella & dot – Cortez Bib Necklace – $49 (on sale)
Although styling an outfit with a chunky necklace should be fairly simple, considering the infinite options we are given, paying extra attention to details won’t hurt. The right necklace should fall right into place either you are trying to achieve a super casual look, or an extra sophisticated one.
My favorite ways of wearing this jewelry piece :
With the launch of Christopher Kane’s collection for Versus, this trend really started kicking-off early last year and kept getting stronger over the fall and winter of 2010. Now with just a couple of weeks apart from 2012, we are still into this trend no matter if we’re talking about the mini “school-girl-like” pleated skirt, the maxi version or even the midi length one – a true statement piece for fall and winter days.
The variety of lengths and textures, only confirm this item as a must, being so functional and working in so many combinations.
There are so many beautiful such skirts that it was quite hard to make a selection and what I finally did was to split my choices into two, designer choices first and most affordable Asos options second :
I used : Rag & Bone – Ezra pleated leather mini skirt ; J.W. Anderson – Pleated wool kilt ; Christopher Kane – Pleated silk-blend lamé skirt ; Halston Heritage – Knife-pleat georgette skirt ; Alexander McQueen – Pleated wool-felt mini skirt ; Halston Heritage – Accordion-pleated chiffon maxi skirt all from Net A Porter.
I liked : A|Wear Animal Pleated Skirt ; Whistles Pleated Carrie Skirt ; Coast Coralie Pleated Maxi Skirt .
To get a little more inspired let’s see how the fashionistas love to wear this skirts on the city streets :
And of course a little bit of celebrity inspiration :
Let me know what you think ? Do you own a pleated skirt ?
Attending the 2011 British Fashion Awards to present the award for Emerging Talent – Ready-To-Wear, Olivia Palermo looked stunning as always, wearing a Matthew Williamson Fall 2011 dress.
Belonging to a collection inspired the by Russian avant-garde painter Francisco Infante-Arana, the wool-crepe dress with feather appliqués was successfully teamed with a pair of Topshop ankle boots, because no one beats Olivia at blending together the high-end with the high-street.
A vintage Charlotte Olympia bag, Asprey jewelry and a low bun completed her look.
Hot Or Not?
Only yesterday I was talking about the black leather leggings and how indispensable they seem to be this season. Today I’ll commit to leather once again by posting on what seems to be a not so new fashion crush : the beautiful leather skirt.
Worn by celebrities and seen on every city’s fashionable street, this skirt seems to have made it pretty far. Available in multiple colors, with different cuts and styles, made by so many brands, I’m sure there’s a leather skirt for every girl.
I’ll start off with my usual designer picks and honestly I love each and every one of these pieces :
A leather skirt could never go wrong – as seen on the streets :
Celeb Style – What better way to get inspired ? with Olivia Palermo, Maria Menounos, Fergie :
Let me know what you think ;).
