Celebrity Fashion Crush – The Black Blazer

I personally have learned a lot about style from celebrities, how could I have not, when one of my favorite activities growing up implied tons of celebrity pictures, cropped out from magazines and then masterfully placed into what I loved to call – my fashion journals?

Now, I somehow try to carry on the tradition, as Oteea Land and Photoshop have replaced my old fashion journals, the glue, the glitter and the colored pencils. The joy of what I’m doing remained the same, though.

For some of the special events that require a more elevated look, we can finally give the LBD a well deserved break and switch for the androgynous style. As celebrity love it, the black blazer, paired with black pants, it’s now the chic way to go.

Celebrity-Fashion-Crush---The-Black-BlazerEmma Roberts opted for a relaxed but tailored look by pairing a black blazer, with black skinny pants and a simple white t-shirt. Alexandre Birman Spring 2012 Strappy sandals completed her outfit.

Jessica Alba looked flawless in Tokyo, wearing a black Tommy Hilfiger pantsuit, that she paired with a classic white shirt and complementary black pumps. Stylish!

Lily Collins worked the masculine trend by pairing a black Dolce & Gabbana blazer with a high-waist pair of Paule Ka pants. The delicate ivory ruffle blouse added a Victorian touch, as the look was finished with black pumps and a red box clutch.

Due to the endless styling possibilities – the Black Blazer is a wardrobe essential.

Black Blazer

Essentials : Episode 04 – Black Blazer

It’s been a while since I have done my latest Essentials episode, almost a month actually, and I quite forgot how fun it is to mix and match brands, colors, fabrics. I said fun, but it is also an extremely time consuming activity, maybe just for me, as I get caught in the “research” and sometimes forget to put a stop to it.

Skipping to the point, this forth episode has all three looks based on a piece that proves to be absolutely necessary in ones wardrobe : the black blazer. I happen to love blazers no matter the color, but somehow the black one seems to be the classic way to go and there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the classics, now and then. You must have already heard by now that old piece of “shopping” advice, that suggests to always think of possible ways to mix an item, with the clothing already in our closet, right before we purchase it and we find at least one combination, it’s safe to know we will actually be wearing that particular item. Well, when buying a black blazer, there’s no need to worry about all that, as you will be able to find a match for it, in a heart beat.

Enough with the bla bla, let’s skip to the important part, the three looks :

Embellished Sweaters For Christmas

With only two days left until Christmas Eve, some of us are still wondering what to wear at the Christmas dinner or while waiting for Dear Santa. If you’re going to spend the Holidays at home or in a place that doesn’t require a party outfit, then you should definitely check the embellished sweaters.

A new trend suggests we should replace the good old reindeer, snowflakes and other Christmas motifs sweater, with ones that are cozy but still look a little more glamorous. If you’re on a budget (and most of us are) you should check out ModCloth, French Connection, Asos or TopShop for some cute pieces :

If you want to invest in a designer sweater than you should check The Outnet, Net A Porter or My Wardrobe :

Fashion Crush – Pleated Skirts

With the launch of Christopher Kane’s collection for Versus, this trend really started kicking-off early last year and kept getting stronger over the fall and winter of 2010. Now with just a couple of weeks apart from 2012, we are still into this trend no matter if we’re talking about the mini “school-girl-like” pleated skirt, the maxi version or even the midi length one – a true statement piece for fall and winter days.

The variety of lengths and textures, only confirm this item as a must, being so functional and working in so many combinations.

There are so many beautiful such skirts that it was quite hard to make a selection and what I finally did was to split my choices into two, designer choices first and most affordable Asos options second  :

Outfit Of The Day – Quality Girl Time

Winter is a great season for gathering with your girlfriends, talk about everything or anything whilst drinking a cup of hot tea (or hot chocolate in my case). Think of a warm cozy place and then imagine yourself relaxed, sitting comfortable but of course looking great. That’s the main inspiration for today’s OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) : a look meant to keep warm, look good, feel good.

I chose all of my items from NET-A-PORTER only because it feels like the dream closet : full of everything hip, high-end and extremely diverse. But all of these items can be easily replaced (I hope) with the ones from our own wardrobe, so that shouldn’t stop you from trying.

01.Outfit-Of-The-Day---Girls-Time

I used : Jonathan Saunders – Fair Isle knitted cotton sweater; Miu Miu – Matelassé leather bag; Rag & Bone – Portobello washed-leather shorts; Falke – Pure Matt 100 denier black tights; Antonio Berardi – Oversized shearling coat; Jimmy Choo – Youth leather biker boots.

Looks pretty cozy doesn’t it ? :)

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Essentials : Episode 02 – Black Leather Leggings

I know, I know, black leather leggins are not exactly an essential piece in our wardrobe, but somehow this season I begin to think they are. I must say I still don’t own anything leathery, I practically don’t even know why, maybe because it wasn’t my style up until now, but I’m slowly falling into this trend and I think I might try them very soon :D.

To be prepared when that moment comes and also for all of you who do own a pair of leather leggins, the next three looks may come in handy.

The first almost all-black look, gives a little bit of edge to our “on-the-go” pieces and it is Rock&Roll meets Biker Chick inspired but on a softer level. I couldn’t decide on the t-shirt as I found two adorable ones : I Love Cats ( I’m a cat person, yes) and the cute Kate Mouse Tee.

01.Black-Leather-Leggings---Edgy

I used : The Row – Occayne stretch-leather leggings; Simeon Farrar For Japan – Kate Mouse cotton T-shirt; Vince – Quilted leather motocross jacket; Alexander McQueen – Swarovski crystal double-skull ring; Zoe Karssen – I Heart Cats cotton and modal-blend T-shirt; Marc Jacobs – Cooper quilted leather shoulder bag; Belstaff – Barkmaster leather boot.

The second look is more urban, more feminine, it’s all about the sheer materials and the high heels :

02.Black-Leather-Leggings---Sexy

I used : The Row – Occayne stretch-leather leggings; Equipment – Signature leopard-print silk-chiffon shirt; Stella McCartney – Faux suede high-cut pumps; Giles & Brother – Archer 10-karat gold-plated cuff; Karl Donoghue – Shearling gilet; Miu Miu – Madras leather clutch.

Sequined top, high heels, sparkly earrings and of course the final look is perfect for a night out:

03.Black-Leather-Leggings---Party

I used : The Row – Occayne stretch-leather leggings; Milly – Victoria suede and leather clutch; Yves Saint Laurent – Studded suede platform sandals; Dannijo – Cambria silver-plated Swarovski crystal earrings; Anna Sui – Sequined mesh top.

Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed “mixing” these beautiful clothes. All the items used in this post were chosen from NET-A-PORTER ;).

Essentials : Episode 01 – White Tank

You guys must already have some pieces in your wardrobe that you use as a base for creating different looks. The “Essential” series of posts I’m starting today will focus mainly on this kind of items and will try to serve as a source of inspiration. All that of course, if , some of my ideas will manage to inspire you in creating versatility in your everyday outfits. I decided to start with the so much used & always present : Mr. White Tank .

The following three looks I will post having a white tank as a base are composed by randomly selected “designery” items that I liked. All of them are from NET-A-PORTER, but I bet every single piece can be replaced with something that we can really find in our closets.

The first look is the cozy & comfortable one, with a bit of an edgy touch, perfect for running errands, talking a walk, you get the point :).

01.White-Top---Cozy

I used : Alexander Wang – Wool Sweater ; DKNY – Pocketed Leather Tote ; Splendid – Cotton White Tank ; Elizabeth and JamesWilda Suede Ankle Boots ; IsharyaGold Plated Glass Ring ; Alexander McQueen – Leopard and Skull-Print Silk-Chiffon Scarf ; Joseph – Leather Leggings .

The second look is more of a minimalistic look, clean & chic :

02.White-Top---Girly

I used : Helmut Lang – Ember Crepe Blazer ; Dannijo – Silver-Plated Swarovski Crystal Necklace ; Splendid – Cotton White Tank ; J.Crew – Twill Shorts ; Alexander Wang – Adele Leather Fold-Over Trunk Clutch ; LD Tuttle – The Empty Leather Ankle Boots ;

The third and final look is so autumny , perfect for warm fall days. You might have noticed by now that I`m not big on mixing prints and crazy colors, I’m always attracted to nudes , I’m “minimalistic” when it comes to colors :). But I do like seeing other people wearing the – what I like to call – “crazy outfits”.

03.White-Top---Downtown

I used : Vince – Belted Knitted Wool Cardigan ; Bottega Veneta – Intrecciato Leather Clutch ; Splendid – Cotton White Tank ; Nixon – Leather & Stainless Steel Watch ; Duro Olowu – Printed Silk-Satin Maxi Skirt ; DKNY – Suede & Leather Ankle Boots .
