Cara Delevingne – New York Fashion Week

In my extra long list filled with all the people I love or admire, there was an empty spot at one point, right under Current Favorite Model, because for a long time I have gone having with none, none of the new generation anyhow.

This fact could mean absolutely nothing, but I find it to be a little bit weird considering the amount of time I spend going through fashion collections, magazine editorials, campaigns, runway shows etc …

Cara D.

The inevitable happened, right when British and current Burberry Prorsum spokes-model, Cara Delevingne, caught my attention with her natural self, her adorable quirkiness and her understated beauty of course … So this season, besides getting excited to see the new trends and collections for Fall 2012, I was also excited to keep track on all the designer Cara walked for, and luckily they were many …

For the New York Fashion Week Fall 2012, Cara graced the runway for Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Thakoon, Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera and Tory Burch, in what seemed to be an impressive amount of shows.

Below you can find all of Cara’s New York runway looks as I particularly found her drop dead gorgeous in Jason Wu. The next round up will focus on Cara’s appearances, during her London and Milan presentations. Do you also have a favorite look of hers ?

New York Fashion Week – Donna Karan Fall 2012

Menswear inspired looks and severe cuts, are now officially trends for the Fall of 2012. If we are to rock flirty, colorful and feminine looks during Spring, for Fall and Winter we are conveniently switching directions, towards a more powerful and alluring sense of style, in fewer words, we are suiting up !

Donna Karan’s Fall 2012 collection speaks big in terms of lady killer looks, as it reanimates the magic of the glamorous 1950s, with models walking the runway resembling the iconic Marlene Dietrich.

What I loved most: The sense of power and seductiveness emanating from the collection; the structural shapes and cuts; the perfect looking blazers and straight pants; the simplicity meets luxury undertones; the masculine accents.

The obvious trends the collection centers around, are the masculine lines, the sculptural detailing and the strict silhouettes.

My favorite looks of the collection were the white shirt with a V-neck, paired with a dramatic floor-length skirt in black (second look above) and the beautiful red mid-length long-sleeved cocktail dress, with a fitted sillouethe and a sexy slit (seen below), plus, I kind of loved the red blazer with pointed shoulders from above too:

Complementing the sharp tailoring, the color palette of the collection, mixed black and white, with dark greys, scarlet red and olive.

Miniature hats, together with normal sized ones, were the key accessories of the fashion show, but also spotted on the runway – ankle boots and ankle strap heels, black leather gloves, a few oversized bags, bright pink make-up, and chic updos also helped style the wonderful collection.

2012 Must-Have – The Little Red Dress

It’s a brand new year, a fresh start, we already feel different and start planning for 2012, wishing to make some changes in our lives and maybe even our wardrobes (trends change and so do we). If you already started working on the “Essential Items for 2012 List” or the otherwise called “I Wish A Lot Of New Stuff This Year” I suggest you make some space on your list and in your closet, for one of the 2012’s must-haves : The Little Red Dress.

I’m not saying it will be replacing The Little Black Dress forever, but this year it could be an inspired choice for so many different events, saving us time and helping us look effortless chic.

Amongst the designers that introduced the little red dress for 2012 were : Elie Saab, Donna Karan, DKNY, Marc By Marc Jacobs, Naeem Khan and Carolina Herrera.

Donna Karan - Resort 2012

DKNY - Resort 2012

Marc By Marc Jacobs - Resort 2012

Naeem Khan - Resort 2012

Carolina Herrera - Resort 2012

Those dresses are beautiful indeed but I don’t know, actually I do know, I’ll never have the chance to wear them outside my imagination that is. Luckily, we have other options to shine as bright as the stars do, but wearing ASOS, Romwe and Topshop as they are some of the most affordable and fashionable brands. My top 4 red ASOS picks are :

Not bad at all, right ? Let’s embrace this trend and look beautiful all throughout 2012, it’s a special year, I’m telling you. XO
