For Fall 2012, Diane von Furstenberg delivered, what must be my favorite collection for the season, up until now at least, full on rich colors, fun prints, sexy shapes, so diverse and yet so cohesive. It does sound like the perfect wardrobe for the modern woman, right ?
What I loved most about the collection: the variety of relaxed, yet flattering silhouettes, that would easily carry you from morning office hours, through brunch time, all the way into evening nights out; the fun prints and rich materials, softening the sometimes severe shapes; the modern and sophisticated feel of the collection, mixed with the already classic DVF pieces; the chic coats and stand out dresses.
Color-blocking remains a strong center point for the colder season, whilst other trends like the masculine lines, the oversized designs, the high slits and leather accents, are amongst the highlights of the Fall/Winter season.
My favorite looks of the collection were, the color-block outfit, mixing a bold fuchsia top, with mustard yellow pants, a gold wide belt, black leather gloves and a cute blue box clutch (the third look above) and the drapey asymmetric pink jumpsuits, worn under an oversized dark burgundy coat, and styled with an oversized burgundy clutch, seen below:
The star colors of the collection, were the scarlet red (it doesn’t come as a surprise, red is a 2012 must), the mustard yellow, the burgundy and the black, of course, we are slowly returning to black.
When styling the collection, Diane went for fun, colorful box clutches, oversized clutches, over the elbow leather gloves, black pumps, ankle booties, and oversized sunglasses. All for a classic collection, that will be lasting in time. By the way, if you’re celebrating a special something today, I wish you a happy and fun Valentine’s Day, and if you’re not celebrating, I wish you a fun and relaxed Tuesday. XO
