Spring Dream Wardrobe

By taking a closer look at some of my favorite Resort 2012 collections, I found myself inspired enough to add some key pieces to my dream wardrobe, and if I will be lucky enough, I will find pretty substitutes for all these designer pieces.

For me, this Spring is all about color – neons, pastels, bright hues, you name it – sheer materials, maxi dresses + skirts, leather (but of course), floral prints … and the rest will follow :

Jessica Alba – 2012 Diane von Furstenberg Awards

On March 9, Jessica Alba attended the 2012 Diane von Furstenberg Awards at the United Nations, in New York City, honoring women who are courageous and fight for justice.

Presenting an award, amongst other celebrities, Jessica looked darling for the night, wearing a Diane von Furstenberg mini dress.

The pastel pink sequined silk version of the Pauletta dress, with long sleeves and a center back zipper, was paired with black tights and the Christian Louboutin Miss Clichy pumps.

MEUS earrings and a J/Hadley ring accessorized the look.

Sporting a bouffant hairstyle, black eyeliner and pink glossy lips, Jessica looked flawless.

New York Fashion Week – Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012

For Fall 2012, Diane von Furstenberg delivered, what must be my favorite collection for the season, up until now at least, full on rich colors, fun prints, sexy shapes, so diverse and yet so cohesive. It does sound like the perfect wardrobe for the modern woman, right ?

What I loved most about the collection: the variety of relaxed, yet flattering silhouettes, that would easily carry you from morning office hours, through brunch time, all the way into evening nights out; the fun prints and rich materials, softening the sometimes severe shapes; the modern and sophisticated feel of the collection, mixed with the already classic DVF pieces; the chic coats and stand out dresses.

Diane-von-Furstenberg---Fall-2012

Color-blocking remains a strong center point for the colder season, whilst other trends like the masculine lines, the oversized designs, the high slits and leather accents, are amongst the highlights of the Fall/Winter season.

My favorite looks of the collection were, the color-block outfit, mixing a bold fuchsia top, with mustard yellow pants, a gold wide belt, black leather gloves and a cute blue box clutch (the third look above) and the drapey asymmetric pink jumpsuits, worn under an oversized dark burgundy coat, and styled with an oversized burgundy clutch, seen below:

DVF Favorite Look

The star colors of the collection, were the scarlet red (it doesn’t come as a surprise, red is a 2012 must), the mustard yellow, the burgundy and the black, of course, we are slowly returning to black.

When styling the collection, Diane went for fun, colorful box clutches, oversized clutches, over the elbow leather gloves, black pumps, ankle booties, and oversized sunglasses. All for a classic collection, that will be lasting in time. By the way, if you’re celebrating a special something today, I wish you a happy and fun Valentine’s Day, and if you’re not celebrating, I wish you a fun and relaxed Tuesday. XO

Essentials : Episode 04 – Black Blazer

It’s been a while since I have done my latest Essentials episode, almost a month actually, and I quite forgot how fun it is to mix and match brands, colors, fabrics. I said fun, but it is also an extremely time consuming activity, maybe just for me, as I get caught in the “research” and sometimes forget to put a stop to it.

Skipping to the point, this forth episode has all three looks based on a piece that proves to be absolutely necessary in ones wardrobe : the black blazer. I happen to love blazers no matter the color, but somehow the black one seems to be the classic way to go and there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the classics, now and then. You must have already heard by now that old piece of “shopping” advice, that suggests to always think of possible ways to mix an item, with the clothing already in our closet, right before we purchase it and we find at least one combination, it’s safe to know we will actually be wearing that particular item. Well, when buying a black blazer, there’s no need to worry about all that, as you will be able to find a match for it, in a heart beat.

Enough with the bla bla, let’s skip to the important part, the three looks :

Small Holiday Gift Guide – Gift Idea No. 03

Without music life would be a mistake said Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche. And I think it’s so,so true considering that we listen to music while jogging, on long trips, while walking home from school/work , at the gym, in the car, at home and I could go on like this forever. So music related gifts seem to be a pretty inspired option.

Gift Idea No. 03 – Music Related Gifts

The first name that popped into my head when I thought of what I would gladly give and also would love to receive – music related of course – was Rihanna. And when I say Rihanna, I instantly think of her brand new sixth studio album, entitled Talk That Talk in Deluxe Edition, that last month went Certified Platinum in the UK after just a week, selling 300,000 copies. If “We Found Love” sets the tone of the album, me and my girlfriends would definitely love to hear more.

The second gift idea is somehow related to the previous as it is Beyonce’s Live At Roseland: Elements Of 4 DVD, that officially went on sale on November 29. The entire stellar performance  packed in a 2-disc Deluxe Edition would make a great holiday gift especially to a Beyonce fan. Along with the amazing 72-minute performance, the deluxe set also comes with the album 4 and a video anthology, featuring the videos for seven of 4‘s hit tracks.

And last but not least I came across this cute Diane von Furstenberg Chain Link Earbuds ($25), that you can order online at www.shopbob.com and has FREE delivery worldwide in 3 days or less.
