I personally have learned a lot about style from celebrities, how could I have not, when one of my favorite activities growing up implied tons of celebrity pictures, cropped out from magazines and then masterfully placed into what I loved to call – my fashion journals?
Now, I somehow try to carry on the tradition, as Oteea Land and Photoshop have replaced my old fashion journals, the glue, the glitter and the colored pencils. The joy of what I’m doing remained the same, though.
For some of the special events that require a more elevated look, we can finally give the LBD a well deserved break and switch for the androgynous style. As celebrity love it, the black blazer, paired with black pants, it’s now the chic way to go.
Emma Roberts opted for a relaxed but tailored look by pairing a black blazer, with black skinny pants and a simple white t-shirt. Alexandre Birman Spring 2012 Strappy sandals completed her outfit.
Jessica Alba looked flawless in Tokyo, wearing a black Tommy Hilfiger pantsuit, that she paired with a classic white shirt and complementary black pumps. Stylish!
Lily Collins worked the masculine trend by pairing a black Dolce & Gabbana blazer with a high-waist pair of Paule Ka pants. The delicate ivory ruffle blouse added a Victorian touch, as the look was finished with black pumps and a red box clutch.
Due to the endless styling possibilities – the Black Blazer is a wardrobe essential.
Net-A-Porter – The Row – Kevington scuba-twill blazer
It’s been a while since I have done my latest Essentials episode, almost a month actually, and I quite forgot how fun it is to mix and match brands, colors, fabrics. I said fun, but it is also an extremely time consuming activity, maybe just for me, as I get caught in the “research” and sometimes forget to put a stop to it.
Skipping to the point, this forth episode has all three looks based on a piece that proves to be absolutely necessary in ones wardrobe : the black blazer. I happen to love blazers no matter the color, but somehow the black one seems to be the classic way to go and there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the classics, now and then. You must have already heard by now that old piece of “shopping” advice, that suggests to always think of possible ways to mix an item, with the clothing already in our closet, right before we purchase it and we find at least one combination, it’s safe to know we will actually be wearing that particular item. Well, when buying a black blazer, there’s no need to worry about all that, as you will be able to find a match for it, in a heart beat.
Enough with the bla bla, let’s skip to the important part, the three looks :
I used : Current/Elliot – The Stiletto low-rise cropped skinny jeans ; Maison Martin Margiela – Stretch-wool blazer ; Splendid – Cotton and modal-blend top ; Nixon – Time Teller ceramic watch ; Dominic Jones – Scarab Dragonfly 23-karat white gold-plated ring ; Mulberry – Bayswater textured-leather bag ; Miu Miu – Suede pumps.
I used : Vionnet – Matte-satin dress ; Maison Martin Margiela – Stretch-wool blazer ; Bottega Veneta – Blackened oxidized-silver shell necklace ; Falke – Pure Matt 100 denier black tights ; Church’s – Classic Burwood glossy leather brogues ; Anya Hindmarch – Mini Gracie leather shoulder bag.
I used : Eddie Borgo – Silver-plated turquoise spike earrings ; Maison Martin Margiela – Stretch-wool blazer ; Burberry Prorsum – Beaded textured-leather wristlet clutch ; Christian Louboutin – Gril 120 patent-leather sandals ; Diane Von Furstenberg – Mara asymmetric sequined silk top ; Todd Lynn – Herault crepe and leather skinny pants.
Needless to say you can find all of the items on Net-A-Porter.
