You guys must already have some pieces in your wardrobe that you use as a base for creating different looks. The “Essential” series of posts I’m starting today will focus mainly on this kind of items and will try to serve as a source of inspiration. All that of course, if , some of my ideas will manage to inspire you in creating versatility in your everyday outfits. I decided to start with the so much used & always present : Mr. White Tank .
The following three looks I will post having a white tank as a base are composed by randomly selected “designery” items that I liked. All of them are from NET-A-PORTER, but I bet every single piece can be replaced with something that we can really find in our closets.
The first look is the cozy & comfortable one, with a bit of an edgy touch, perfect for running errands, talking a walk, you get the point :).
I used : Alexander Wang – Wool Sweater ; DKNY – Pocketed Leather Tote ; Splendid – Cotton White Tank ; Elizabeth and James – Wilda Suede Ankle Boots ; Isharya – Gold Plated Glass Ring ; Alexander McQueen – Leopard and Skull-Print Silk-Chiffon Scarf ; Joseph – Leather Leggings .
The second look is more of a minimalistic look, clean & chic :
I used : Helmut Lang – Ember Crepe Blazer ; Dannijo – Silver-Plated Swarovski Crystal Necklace ; Splendid – Cotton White Tank ; J.Crew – Twill Shorts ; Alexander Wang – Adele Leather Fold-Over Trunk Clutch ; LD Tuttle – The Empty Leather Ankle Boots ;
The third and final look is so autumny , perfect for warm fall days. You might have noticed by now that I`m not big on mixing prints and crazy colors, I’m always attracted to nudes , I’m “minimalistic” when it comes to colors :). But I do like seeing other people wearing the – what I like to call – “crazy outfits”.
I used : Vince – Belted Knitted Wool Cardigan ; Bottega Veneta – Intrecciato Leather Clutch ; Splendid – Cotton White Tank ; Nixon – Leather & Stainless Steel Watch ; Duro Olowu – Printed Silk-Satin Maxi Skirt ; DKNY – Suede & Leather Ankle Boots .
I wasn’t a huge follower of Minka Kelly‘s fashion statements, as she is more of a recent celebrity discovery, for which I have developed a certain interest. I do like this look she wore at the Michael Kors Robertson Boulevard Boutique Opening.
The beautiful actress opted for this white fitted sheath silhouette, with metallic gold leather piping and cut-in shoulders. She paired the white dress with these nude Brian Atwood pumps and flawless make-up.
This look is a good example of how “less is always more” .
Do you think she looks hot or what ? Share your thoughts .
Yesterday, New York City held ” The Museum Of Modern Art’s 4th Annual Film Benefit, A Tribute To Pedro Almodovar ” event. Amongst the celebrities that strolled the red carpet in big style, I particularly enjoyed seeing Blake Lively in full autumn spirit, wearing a Chanel Fall 2011 Couture Look.
The conservative silhouette in tones of muted grey & midnight blues, was teamed with a pair of black Robot ankle boots signed by Christian Louboutin and brown tights. This styling choice had some (to say the least) critics on the edge of approval, as this option might have just ruined the outfit.
Definitely more playful when it came to the hair, Blake wore a pulled back ponytail, with a bit of poof up top. The finishing touch was given by the deep-colored Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.
What did you think about this outfit ? Was Blake inspired or not ?
The first post on my new blog. Excitement and also a lot of thoughts that occupied my mind.
There was a lot to choose from, in matter of subject of course, but I decided to transform this first step into an homage, brought to someone I truly admire, to someone special that left her print on the Fashion world forever. A true Style Icon.
Needless to say that the adorable and most beautiful British woman of all time that I am talking about is the legendary Audrey Hepburn.
In terms of fashion, you cannot think of Audrey Hepburn and not instantly think of the classic “Little Black Dress” that was part of her memorable chic style. Having to thank her for that great legacy, as the piece stands as a “must have” in anyone’s essential wardrobe by now, we might also want to thank her for one particular cozy & comfortable pair of shoes. Swimming against the stream, in an era where heels & pumps were not so comfortable, but yet they were every woman’s graceful choice, Audrey started to pair her outfits, with the never really out of style “Ballet Flats”. Let’s not forget about the “Cat-Eyes Sunglasses”, an item that unmistakable, still wears the subtle signature of the One & Only Audrey and that we all still love so much.
The oversized hats, the black cigarette pants, the pearls, the great name of Givenchy, all that and so much more keeps reminding us that once upon a time there was a lady who never thought of herself as an icon, and yet today she is “THE ICON” for so many of us.
